At the ACLU of Florida, we know that freedom of expression and equity can and must coexist on college campuses. History tells us that student activism can have a powerful statewide, and even nationwide, impact.
This is why ACLU campus clubs are integral to the ACLU of Florida’s mission to protect and expand civil liberties. Campus groups play many important roles, such as:
- Influencing and educating fellow students
- Impacting school policy
- Raising awareness of local and statewide civil rights issues
- Connecting fellow students to grassroots advocacy
One of the best ways students can work to protect their rights and the rights of their community is through the ACLU of Florida’s College Initiative Program. As an ACLU campus group, you benefit from the experience and resources of the national ACLU, the ACLU of Florida, and other campus groups as you work to protect the civil liberties of not just America's youth but all Americans.
Students are a dynamic constituency who have been an important force for social change throughout history. We hope these campus activism resources will encourage and empower you — whether you are a student, faculty member, or administrator — to stand up, speak out, and create positive change. You are a vital force to the ACLU.
