Amendment
A change to proposed, or current, laws.

Bill
A proposed law. Often used to mean a proposal, draft, or legislation.

Calendar
A schedule of committee meetings or bills that will be discussed by both The House and Senate. There is a separate calendar printed for each chamber.

Committee
A working group made up of appointed legislators for the purpose of study, research and direction of proposed bills.

Committee Substitute
An amendment to a bill that replaces the original language or specific section of a bill.

Conference Committee
A committee appointed for the purpose of reaching agreement when the House and Senate differ on a specific piece of legislation.

Died
When a bill does not receive a favorable vote by a committee or is not placed on the calendar for discussion by the House or Senate chamber.

Message
When a bill passes one chamber and is sent to the other chamber to be heard and voted on for final passage.

Enrolled
When a bill has passed both the House and Senate, and is sent to the Governor.

Engrossed
When a bill has passed both the House and the Senate and is approved for printing.

Session
The daily meeting of the Senate and House, or reference to the regular, special or extended sessions.
