On Thursday, March 13th 2014, the ACLU announced a lawsuit filed in federal court on behalf of eight same-sex couples and SAVE, an LGBT rights organization based in South Florida, challenging the state of Florida’s refusal to recognize their marriages, which were performed in other states and recognized by the federal government.
Latest Update: On June 26, 2015 , the US Supreme Court ruled that the prohibition of marriages of same-sex couples is unconstitutional under the fourteenth amendment.
